Coastal Woodland Adventures

From lone trees clinging to cliffs, through to large woodlands and visitor landmarks, Coastal Woodlands are a vital part of the Solway Coast landscape.

The Solway Coast & Marine Landscape Connections Project is overseeing ten years of activity along the Solway Coast. One of our key habitats is ‘coastal woodlands’. This summer a series of free and fun events will give young people the confidence to explore and enjoy our coastal woodlands, introducing the role they can play in tackling some of the modern challenges we face. These events are delivered by Dumfries & Galloway Woodlands, with funding from the D&G Coastal Benefit Fund and SCAMP Landscape Connections. All possible thanks to the support from landowners and host partners across the region.

We are delivering a three-day series of events at five of our region’s flagship coastal woodlands. Join the one that suits you best!

Each day consists of a morning session of 10-12noon, designed for Wee Kids (<8years), and then a 1-3pm session designed for Big Kids (>8years).

Day One: What is a Tree to me? Exploration, bug hunts + games

Day Two: Wild Encounters Pond Dipping + Animal tracking

Day Three: Shipwrecked on the Solway Coast! Bushcraft, foraging + den building

Programme dates:

Attendees can sign up for all three days or a single day, whatever suits you best.

These Coastal Woodland Adventures events are led by qualified outdoor event leaders and promise to be a highlight of the summer holidays.
