The Solway Coast and Marine Landscape Connections Project (SCAMP) is the first project supported through the National Heritage Lottery Fund’s ‘Landscape Connections’ programme and is an opportunity to support, celebrate and harness the potential of the Coastal Woodlands along the length of the Dumfries & Galloway region.
Three development contracts were let in early 2026 to help us plan what will be 8 years of Coastal Woodland related work. A key factor in planning what we can do to support coastal woodlands in the region concerns the management of deer. This is a complex topic, but a range of innovative projects are being trialled across the UK. SCAMP gives an opportunity for the local Deer Management sector to receive equivalent support.
Deer Management Contract: SCAMP Contract Opportunity – Deer Management (Total expected value: £7,500)
McNabb Laurie, DG Woodlands Manager, said:
“We are looking to increase our understanding of the challenges and capacities within the deer management sector locally. This is a complex topic, but a range of innovative deer management projects are being trialled across the UK – from training the next generation of deer managers and related roles, through to equipment and facilities in the region, and a broader marketing/promotion of venison and related products. This is a chance for Dumfries & Galloway’s Deer Management sector to receive similar support. If you can help us, please do submit an expression of interest.”
To submit an expression of interest, submit requested details to mcnabb.laurie@dgwoodlands.org by 9am, 14th April. Any queries welcomed at any point.
All SCAMP contracts are made possible thanks to the funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
